A new traffic signal at the busy Kamehameha Avenue/Hina Avenue intersection in Kahului becomes fully operational at the end of the month.

By Thursday, January 26th, the signal light will be in flashing mode to alert motorists, and caution them to stop as they approach the intersection.

During construction, a flashing stop signal was placed at the intersection for motorists traveling along Kamehameha Avenue, who yield to oncoming right-of-way traffic from Hina Avenue.

Construction began on November 28th, and the signal will be in full operation on Tuesday, January 31, 2012.
