The scheduled outage has been extended due to ongoing work.

Maui Electric Company will conduct a planned power outage starting at 9 a.m. today, and ending at 4 p.m. in parts of Hana and Haiku.

The outage will affect sections of the Hana Highway from Ulumalu Road, including Huelo, Kailua, Keanae, Nahiku, and Aaeleku at Mile Marker 31.

MECO is working to meet the timeline to restore electrical service as quickly and as safely as possible.

Officials at MECO thanked the public for their patience and understanding, and said an update will be provided as more information becomes available.
