Recruiting Now for 8th Annual Milk Carton Regatta

Meadow Gold Dairies is now recruiting participants for the upcoming 8th Annual Maui Meadow Gold Milk Carton Regatta.

The competition takes place on Saturday, April 28, and is open to Maui Middle and High Schools.

The event allows for the entry of two boats per school, with contestants judged on speed, creativity and spirit.

To build the boats Meadow Gold Dairies will provide each team with two cases of milk cartons, 16 rolls of clear packing tape and $100 for supplies. There is no entry fee.

The event will be held at Hanakao`o Beach Park (Canoe Beach) in Lahaina, and will be emceed by mistress of ceremonies, Alaka’i Paleka the Morning Goddess on KPOA 93.5 FM.

Lani Moo, the mascot of Meadow Gold Dairies, will also be present to cheer the schools to victory.

A teachers meeting is planned on March 8 at Meadow Gold Dairies in Kahului, at which time, supplies will be provided for boat construction.

The overall winner will be presented with an Office Max 1st place prize of $ 500 gift certificate per division; and a $250 Office Max certificate for 2nd place.

Meadow Gold Dairies ice cream parties will be awarded per division for the winning students race, most creative boat and spirit award.

The Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas will also award a one-room night stay at the resort for the winner of the teacher’s race for each division.

All participants will also receive a Meadow Gold Dairies MOOOhalo goodie bag.

The event is sponsored by Minit Stop, The Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas, KPOA 93.5 FM, Pacific Radio Group, County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation, Ocean Safety Division, Department of Public Works and Waste Management, State of Hawaii, Department of Education, DLNR, Napili Canoe Club, Menehune Water and Meadow Gold Dairies.
