Katchafire, Tribal Seeds To Headline ‘MayJah RayJah’

Popular reggae bands Katchafire and Tribal Seeds will headline one of the year’s most exciting island and reggae music events, “The MayJah RayJah 2012 Tour,” on Friday, April 13 at 5 p.m. at the MACC. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m.

Joining the show’s featured reggae sensations will be some of the islands’ most popular performers, including Common Kings, Anuhea, Tomorrow’s Bad Seeds, Maoli, Positive Motion, Knova, The Steppas, Prie, Puali, Jimmy Weeks Project, Lighthouse Band, Angry Locals, DJ Glitchdick, Micah Banks, and Roxy.

This will be the tour’s first Maui show in 2012, and the island is buzzing with excitement to see this years’ star performers Katchafire and Tribal Seeds.

New Zealand-based band Katchafire has delighted the Pacific and beyond with their authentic roots reggae sound.

The (presently) seven-member group originated in 1977 as a Bob Marley tribute band, named after the famed Bob Marley & The Wailers album, Catch a Fire.

Katchafire’s career took off when they began writing and performing their own songs some years after they formed.

Today the band stays busy touring most of the year, performing original hits including “Giddy Up,” “Colour Me Life,” and “On The Road Again.”

Tribal Seeds is a six-piece reggae band from San Diego, California headed by two brothers.

The band gained momentum in 2008 with their self-titled album, Tribal Seeds, which was ranked  as one of the 8 best reggae albums on iTunes that year.

Like Katchafire, Tribal Seeds is influenced by Bob Marley and other famed reggae artists like Steel Pulse and Midnite.

The group tours throughout the US, Mexico, Aruba, and Guam occasionally sharing the stage with world-famous reggae musicians like SOJA, Matisyahu, Rebelution, and now Katchafire.
