Sports Briefs: Register for College Workshop Hosted by HSJGA

This year’s Hawaii State Junior Golf Association College Workshop is March 24, from 9 a.m to noon at Lahaina Civic Center. The workshop is free and geared to students ages 10-18 interested in playing any college sport.

College coaches Anne Kelly (Colorado), Don Rasmussen (Seattle) and Chad Spencer (Nevada) will be on the panel, along with Hawaii sophomore Anna DePalma’s mother, Roxanne, and HSJGA graduates Monica Keo and Miki Ueoka.

HSJGA vice president Cathy Torchiana, a member of the National Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame, will narrate. Juniors attending get a $20 discount on the Ping College Golf Guide.

Registration is open on the HSJGA website (hsjga.org). The workshop is being held in conjunction with the Rainbow Wahine’s Anuenue Spring Break Classic at Kapalua.

The 4th annual St. Patricks Day “Run ’til You’re Green 3Mile” will start at Kahului Ale House on Saturday, Mar. 17, at 5 p.m. Registration ($40) and packet pickup race day from 3:45 to 4:30 p.m. The wheeled-measured 3-mile course is flat and fast.

Each entry includes a race t-shirt and one beverage (your choice of domestic draft beer or soft drink, must have valid ID for alcohol). There are five age divisions with medals awarded three deep for men and women. To register online go to @ MauiRunning.com.

The Third Annual Maui Valley to the Sea Half Marathon is scheduled for Saturday, Mar. 24. The half-marathon race begins at 7 a.m. at Iao Valley and ends at the National Marine Sanctuary in Kihei.
