A new on-island business social network called Maui Springboard recently launched a beta version and is looking for new members.

Developed in the spirit of LinkedIn and Facebook, and on the Ning platform, the new online community is geared toward Maui-based professional networking and business development.

Since the launch of its beta site nearly three weeks ago, Maui Springboard has already attracted 22 professionals and is growing.

“When doing business within a small, tight-knit community, not only can you close more business, but increasing your social capital among your peers means you build stronger bonds which often lead to exponential growth in revenue,” said Ron Lunan, the founder of Maui Springboard and a technology entrepreneur, in a written statement.

Maui Springboard is not only targeting online social networkers, but has plans to launch in-person training and networking events later this year. “It’s one thing to give someone a status update, it’s another thing to know them intimately as a person and business partner,” said Lunan.
