A structure fire at the Pohailani Maui Resort in Kahana this afternoon resulted in limited damages to a third floor unit.
The fire was reported at 1:44 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2012.
When firefighters arrived on scene at 1:52 p.m., smoke was seen coming from the corner of the patio of a third floor unit, said Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.
A female within the unit was aroused from a nap by neighbors pounding on her door, said Chief Mainaga. No injuries were reported, but the fire resulted in total losses of $1,000.
Before firefighters arrived, a resident manager and Maui Police personnel had attempted to put out the blaze with fire extinguishers.
The fire was under control by 2:09 p.m., and extinguished at round 3 p.m.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
