Weekend Round-Up: Maui County Ag Fest, Easter Celebrations

5th Annual Maui County Agricultural Festival Saturday, April 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Maui Tropical Plantation in Waikapu. Free entry.

The Maui County Agricultural Festival is an annual event that is held every first Saturday in April, presenting the community with information, food and activities surrounding Maui agriculture.

Leading Maui chefs and farmers offer tips, samples, and a “Grown on Maui” farmer’s market in addition to several other fun events lined up for the day .

John Cruz Live Performance Saturday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Stella Blues in Kihei. Tickets are $60 for a 4-course dinner with the show, and $30 for the show only. Dinner seating begins at 6 p.m.

John Cruz gives a solo performance in the Stella Blues Supper Club series, sharing his original, home-grown Hawaiian sound.

Cruz holds the title for winning the first-ever Grammy awarded for Hawaiian music with his song “Jo Bo’s Night.”

He continues to dazzle fans worldwide, and has played alongside other Hawaii-based greats Jack Johnson, Paula Fuga, and Makana.

Art with Heart Fundraiser Event Friday, April 6 and Saturday, April 7 at 5:30 p.m. in Seabury Hall’s cafeteria. Entrance is $18 for adults and $12 for students.

Seabury Hall students from the school’s philanthropy club present an event that benefits the non-profit organization Build Africa.

Highlights for both nights include a “Silence and Noise” multimedia student art exhibit, live music, dance and poetry readings.

T-shirts, refreshments, and bracelets will be sold with all proceeds going to the Build Africa organization.

Spring Break Sounds Friday, April 6 2012 at 8:3o p.m. at Stella Blues. The cover charge is $7. 

Bands Gomega, Entity Awakened, Happy Haole’s, and The Satterday Saints join for a special event including low Spring Break and Easter weekend drink prices.

A Good Friday Celebration Friday, April 6 at 9:30 p.m. at Charley’s Restaurant in Paia. Tickets are $10 for men only. Women get in free.

DJ Kamikaze spins into the night to celebrate Good Friday with some bad (in a good way) music, presented by Q103.

Easter Holiday Events

Easter Community Celebration Saturday, April 7 at 9 a.m. at the Maui Mall. 

Easter treats are provided throughout the mall starting at 9 a.m. followed by an Easter Bonnet Decorating Contest at 11 a.m., games, photo-ops with the Easter Bunny, and live entertainment.

Sanrio Easter Celebration Saturday, April 7  from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Queen Ka’ahumanu Center.

The Sanrio store hosts a day of fun Easter activities in the Queen Ka’ahumanu Center’s center court, including photos with the Easter Bunny.

The Biggest ‘EFFEN’ Easter Rager Saturday, April 7 at 10 p.m. at Lulu’s Lahaina. 

For those who want to party on Easter Sunday rather than tend to keiki with upset stomachs from too many chocolate bunnies, Lulu’s is hosting an Effen Vodka party with live DJ’s, drink specials, and sexy Party Rock Krew bunnies.

Makawao’s 2nd Annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, April 7  from 9-11 a.m. at Oskie Rice Rodeo Arena on Olinda Rd. in Makawao.

Makawao Community Association, Kanoulu Ranch, Haleakala Ranch, and Ric Rac Records host a free egg hunt for keiki 10-years-old and under. Sign in starts at 8 a.m.

Easter Cantana and Photos with the Easter Bunny Friday, April 6 at 6 p.m. at the Lahaina Cannery Mall.

Lahaina Baptist Church Choir presents an “Easter Cantana” on Friday evening to kick off the weekend of holiday events.

Photos with the Easter Bunny are available on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Easter Sunday Brunch Brunch hot spots for Sunday, April 8.

David Paul’s Island Grill – A la carte brunch options are available from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., including champagne Mimosas.

Ka’anapali Beach Hotel – The event features 65 Easter buffet dishes, flowing champagne, and keiki Easter activities including live Hawaiian entertainment, a keiki egg hunt, face painting, and hourly visits from the Easter Bunny. The fun starts at 8:15 p.m. Entrance is $46.95 for adults and $24 for keiki 5-12-years old. Reservations are required.

Ritz-Carlton Kapalua – A tranquil Easter Brunch on the terrace starts at 11 a.m. after an age 0-12 keiki egg hunt at 10:15 p.m. Entrance is $85 for adults and $42.50 for keiki five-years-old to 12-years-old. Reservations are required.

Lahaina Harbor – Pacific Whale Foundation takes Easter Brunch to sea for a whale watch and dining. The boat leaves the harbor at 11:30 a.m. and returns at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $79.95 for adults and $49.95 for keiki. Reservations are required.

Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa – A buffet is spread throughout the resort’s Swan Court for Easter Sunday from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tasty specials on the “enhanced” menu include brown sugar and smoked sea salt crusted prime rib and holiday deserts. The event also features live music. Prices are $29.95 for standard cuisine and $39.95 for the enhanced menu.
