NYK Begins New Asia-Hawaii Shipping Line
By Sonia Isotov
Starting in early May, NYK will begin a new direct service linking Asia with Honolulu.
The first sailing will depart from Shanghai on May 5 and the new Asia Hawaii Express (AHX) service will have the following port rotations:
Shanghai – Pusan – Yokohama – Honolulu – Yokohama – Shanghai
Three 700 TEU Nominal vessels will travel for 31 days round trip, and one ship will be in port at Honolulu every 10 days.
All other ports in Asia (i.e., those in Hong Kong, south China, north China, and Southeast Asia) will connect to this service in Shanghai or Pusan using the NYK’s feeder network.
