Mokulele Airlines Offers Seniors $39 One-Way Fare

Mokulele Airlines is rolling out a new WikiWings program aimed at Hawai`i seniors who fly inter-island.

The airline, based on the Big Island, will be offering a flexible travel option that allows Hawai’i senior residents, with state ID (or proof of residence and age), the ability to fly for as low as $38.80 each way (taxes included) when booked within 30 minutes of departure at the airport check-in counter.

State residents must be 65-years-old or older to qualify.

Reservations are only confirmed 30 minutes before departure (45 minutes in Honolulu) and require payment at the ticket counter. There are no change or cancellation fees. This fare is also fully refundable.

“By allowing Hawaii’s seniors flexibility, they can stay longer, to finish their business, spend more time with family, or even fly back and forth more often without being stuck to a particular time or flight, I feel we can help bring back the spirit of aloha when they fly,” said Ron Hansen, the chief executive officer of Mokulele Airlines, in a written statement.

Mokulele Flight Service, headquartered in Kailua-Kona has been serving Hawaii since 1994 and was recently purchased by TransPac Aviation, Inc. in November 2011. Mokulele offers 44 flights daily connecting Oahu, Lanai, Molokai, Maui and the Big Island with nine-seat turbine-powered Cessna Grand Caravan 208 aircraft.
