8th Annual Milk Carton Regatta Results

Twenty-one boats competed in the 8th annual Maui Meadow Gold Milk Carton Regatta held over the weekend at Hanakao`o Beach Park in West Maui.

The winner of the Middle school division was Lokelani; and the overall high school winner was St. Anthony. The event attracted the participation of 15 schools this year.

Meadow Gold Dairies hosted the educational event, with prizes given to winning schools for the fastest time, most creative boat design and spirit.  The overall winners for the regatta received prizes of $500 and $250 Office Max gift cards and Meadow Gold Ice Cream parties.

Student Race Overall Middle School Winners:

Grand prize: Lokelani, Mr. Michael Yeany, teacher, Race time: 1.52.2, Overall score: 39.4 points.

1st Runner Up: Carden Academy, Tracey Takase, teacher, Race time: 2:12, Overall score: 36.5 points.

Student Race Overall High School Winners:

Grand prize: St. Anthony HS, Paul McLeod, teacher, Race time: 1.28, Overall score: 42.4 points.

1st Runner Up: St. Anthony HS, Paul McLeod, teacher, Race time: 1:37, Overall score: 41.1 points.

Spirit Winners:

Spirit Winner, Middle School: Achievement Academy, Rhonda Fonseca, teacher, Score: 9.6 points.

Spirit Winner, High School: Kamehameha MS, Kealii Mossman, teacher, Score: 10 points.

Creative Boat Design Winners:

Creative Winner, Middle School: Kalama Intermediate, Monica Heller-Hackett teacher, Score: 9.6 points.

Creative Winner, St. Anthony High School, Paul McLeod, teacher, Score: 10 points.

Teachers Race Winners:

Teachers Race, Middle School: Michael Yeany, Lokelani Intermediate, Race time: 1:42.

Teachers Race, High School: St. Anthony HS, Paul McLeod teacher, Race time: 1:23.

All participants received a Meadow Gold Dairies MOOOhalo goodie bag, which included items from Meadow Gold Dairies, water bottles from Nutrition and Physical Activity Coalition and Round Table Pizza discount coupons.
