“Edge of the Forest” Special This Makawao 3rd Friday
By Maui Now Staff
A special event is planned for this upcoming Makawao Third Friday town party, August 17.
The theme for the event is “Edge of the Forest” – the literal translation of the Hawaiian word makawao, referring to Haleakala’s “wao akua” (forest of the gods) located just above the historic town.
Organizer Sara Tekula says the special event will feature award-winning live entertainment on three stages, food vendors, activities for the whole family, and more.
Baldwin Avenue will be closed between Brewer Road and Makawao Avenue, between 5:15 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., for safety reasons.
Parking, which has been an ongoing problem for the event, has been provided at Makawao Base Yard (Across from St. Joseph’s Church), Makawao Hongwanji, two parking lots on Brewer Road, and Makawao Municipal Parking Lot on Makawao Avenue near the library.
