Woman on Vessel Near Molokini Medevaced to Maui

A 65-year-old woman was medevac’d from waters near Molokini Crater to Maui on Friday after experiencing trouble breathing.

The incident was reported at around 10 a.m. on Friday, August 17, 2012, aboard the 64-foot Ocean Liberty charter vessel.

A Coast Guard flight surgeon who was briefed on the woman’s condition recommended immediate evacuation.

A crew from the Coast Guard Station Maui was dispatched aboard a 45-foot vessel to respond, and arrived on scene at around 10:20 a.m.

The crew transported the woman to emergency medical specialists waiting at the Kihei Boat Ramp.

The patient’s condition is unknown.
