Staff from the Maui County Office of Economic Development (OED) will be in Hana on September 17 to conduct a workshop on the department’s grant application process.

This workshop is geared toward those who are interested in finding out what kinds of grants are available through OED, how to apply for those OED grants and how the grants process works.

Currently, the Office of Economic Development administers funds through two different venues. Each venue has its own application, criteria, and requirements.  One venue is through a partnership with the Hawai’i Tourism Authority which created the Maui County Product Enrichment Program (CPEP).

The second venue is through the Office of Economic Development Grants program.  The OED awards grants on an annual basis to non-profit organizations and events that promote diversity and growth within the economy.

This training session will examine the following:

• the purpose and availability of OED funds
• grant proposals and method of submission
• compliance for funding
• developing goals and objectives
• developing an effective budget
• proper spending and accounting requirements
• reporting requirements
