“Maintaining a safe learning environment is critical for our public schools,” he said.

The project calls for site clearing, soil treatment for vegetation control, earthwork, excavating, back-filling and compacting, storm drainage, asphalt paving, cement concrete paving, and pavement marking.

Money for the project was secured by West Maui lawmakers during the 2010 legislative session in the state budget for Fiscal Year 2010-11.
