Hawai’i Broadcasters Gives $46,000 in Scholarships

The Hawaii Association of Broadcasters has awarded $46,300 in academic scholarships to students pursuing careers in the broadcast industry.
Students selected were either high school seniors or enrolled in college, with at least a 2.5 grade point average. Part of the edibility requirement was a desire to work in the broadcast industry in Hawai’i upon completion of school.
The following is a list of students who received awards along with the school they will be attending:
Justin Calpito, UH Manoa; Felicia Cazares, St. Mary’s College of California; Malina Fagan, Chapman University; Samantha Feyen, Kapiolani Community College; Aria Fleming, Kapiolani Community College; Zachary Fu, Biola University; Sabrina Olena Heu, Hawaii Pacific University; Seree Hong, UH Manoa; Christian Kaholokula, Chaminade University; Lia Kamana, Michigan State; Jordyn Kilgore, Columbia College Chicago; Kyle Kosaki, UH Manoa; Randee Layosa, Pacific University; Annette Lee, Boston University; Sydney Lee-Manzan, University of Nevada Las Vegas; Brannagan-Ashley Mukaisu, Columbia College Chicago; Tyler Van Kirk, Oregon Institute of Technology; McKenna Vierra, UH West Oahu; Samuel Wahilani, UH West Oahu; and Matthew Wallner, Portland State.
The application process required a completed application form, a letter of recommendation from a current or former teacher, and a personal interview with the HAB scholarship committee.
The Hawaii Association of Broadcasters, Inc. is made up of radio and television Stations and others whose common goal is to support and benefit the local broadcast industry.
