A Wailuku structure fire caused an estimated $500 in damages before being brought under control on Saturday afternoon, December 22, 2012.
The fire was first reported at 3:40 p.m. at 54 North Market Street.
When crews from Engine-1 arrived on scene, firefighters found a four-by-two-foot section of an exterior wall smouldering, said Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.
Fire officials say the blaze was brought under control by a tenant, who utilized a fire extinguisher, and later extinguished by crews from Engine-1 upon thier arrival.
Also assisting with the call was Rescue-10, who helped with making entry into the building to ventilate the smoke, and check for any fire extension, said Mainaga.
The cause of the fire was undetermined after investigation.
