A High Surf Advisory has been extended for the East facing shores of Maui, Molokai, the Big Island of Hawai’i, Kaua’i and O’ahu until 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Although trade winds are decreasing, forecasters from the National Weather Service say a long upwind fetch of trade winds has generated large seas that will continue to produce rough surf along the east facing shores.

Surf is expected to be in the 6 to 8 foot range through Saturday.

The elevated surf will created strong breaking waves, shore break, and dangerous rip currents.

As a precaution, beach goers, swimmers, and surfers are cautioned to heed the advice of Ocean Safety officials, and exercise caution.
