6-Year-Old Boy Pulled From Water Near Stable Road

The six-year-old boy who was pulled from the water near Stable Road on Sunday afternoon remained in critical condition this morning, officials said.

Maui Police Lt. Jayson Rego said the boy remained on a ventilator and was under the care of doctors at the Intensive Care Unit.

The boy was located unresponsive at around 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, near the water’s edge at the end of Stable Road, according to authorities.

A six-year-old boy was transported to the hospital in critical condition after being pulled from the water at the end of Stable Road, authorities said.

Ambulance crews and fire personnel from Engine-2 responded to the incident, reported at 2:02 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, 2013.

According to incident reports, attempts were made to revive the child with CPR prior to the arrival of first responders.

When engine crews arrived on scene, the boy was located at the water’s edge, unresponsive, and without a pulse, said Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.

Fire personnel reportedly continued administering CPR.

The Medic-2 unit from the American Medical Response had the patient carried into the ambulance and then transported in critical condition to Maui Memorial Medical Center, said Mainaga.

There was no further update on the boy’s condition after transport.
