Haleakalā Parking Lot Improvements Planned

Improvements to all parking lots in the Summit District of Haleakalā National Park are scheduled to begin around April 29, officials said.
Among the areas included in the project are: the Summit Observatory parking lot, the Hosmer Grove campground lot, and all visitor center and scenic overlook parking lots along the park road.

Park officials made the announcement in a press release today saying work will include concrete repairs, regrading, accessibility and ADA improvements, and asphalt resurfacing.
According to the announcement, park officials are working to minimize parking lot closures and traffic delays.
The project is scheduled for completion in early September 2013.
