Wind gusts near 50 mph are expected in the summit area of Haleakalā National Park on Maui today, forecasters from the National Weather Service report.
The NWS has issued a wind advisory for Haleakalā National Park until 6 p.m. for areas above the 6,000-foot elevation.
NWS forecasters say winds will be blowing from the East at 25 to 35 mph with localized gusts near 50 mph.
The strong winds can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Motorists are also advised to use extra caution when opening car doors.
