Community Work Day Renamed, Fundraiser Planned

The newly renamed Community Work Day program, now called Mālama Maui Nui, will host a fundraiser in July to support continued community projects.
The non-profit organization is responsible for many island beach cleanups, recycling projects, land restoration efforts, and Maui school garden programs.
The “For the Love of Maui” fundraiser will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, a the Ritz Carlton, Kapalua, in West Maui.
The event features renowned jazz musicians from both New Orleans and New York City.
Event organizers say the lineup includes Trumpeter Jim Seely and Saxophonist Peter Brainin of the Arturo O’Farril Latin Jazz Orchestra live from New York, The Gene Argel Latin Band, The Louis Romanos Quartet from Louisiana, and award winning pianist Tommy James of the Duke Ellington Orchestra.
There will also be a silent auction, environmental education information, and a native and edible plant sale.
The event is produced in conjunction with Arts Education for Children Group and Jazz Maui 2013.
