The Makena Beach & Golf Resort continues their monthly food & wine celebrations this month with a five-course dinner on Thursday.

The meal will be held outdoors and oceanfront and will feature the wines of Langtry Estate & Vineyard as well as its sister brand, Guenoc Wines.

The Langtry Estate & Vineyard is located in the Guenoc Valley area of Lake County, California. With over 23,000 acres of land, Langtry’s vast property spans throughout Lake County and into the northern tip of Napa Valley.

Known primarily for Petite Sirah and Sauvignon Blanc, the winery’s Petite Sirah has won more gold medals and best-of-show awards than any other Petite Sirah in the world.

The dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. and will feature special guest host Langtry President Easton Mason.

The five courses have been specially created by Makena Beach and Golf Resort’s Executive Chef Marc McDowell to pair with the Langtry wines.

Guests can anticipate such selections as the 2011 Guenoc Sauvignon Blanc alongside a crispy potato and kaffir lime crab cakes with hearts of palm, sapote (a Central American species of persimmon known for its soft, custard-like flesh), pineapple relish and spicy guava remoulade.

In addition, a mustard-crusted cedar plank salmon served with Kula grilled asparagus, herb fingerlings with rhubarb sauce is slated to be paired with the 2008 Guenoc Lake County Mertiage Red.

An Herbs de Provence and Maldon salt-rubbed beef tenderloin served with Kumu farms baby carrots and fondant potato with a black cherry and Verjus veal reduction will accompany the 2009 Langtry Estate Tephra Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon.

Consider the fourth, undefined course and wine pairing a mystery to look forward to before the grand finale, a trifle made from layers of chiffon cake with brandied mixed berries and sweet mascarpone cheese. It will be paired with the 2007 Langtry Estate Guenoc Serpentine Meadow Petite Sirah Port.

In addition to all this fine food and wine, the dinner will also feature live entertainment.

Tickets are available at $100 per person and reservations can be made by calling 808-875-5888.
