Overnight Waterline Shutdown Scheduled in Wailuku
By Wendy Osher
The Maui Department of Water Supply continues an ongoing capital improvement project to replace waterlines in Wailuku.
The latest phase of the project begins tonight, July 9, at 8 p.m. and continues until 6 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, officials said.
According to water department administrators, work will result in water outages on Loke, Nani and Wailani Streets; as well as portions of Kaniela (between Main and Vineyard), Mission (between Lower Main and Vineyard), and Vineyard (between Central and Mission).
The department is reportedly replacing undersized waterlines in an effort to provide sufficient water protection for surrounding residents.
The CIP project began in February and is expected to be complete in October 2013, according to the DWS.
Department officials advise that customers store water overnight if needed. Customers may also want to flush lines upon completion of work to clear any sediment that may have accumulated.
The 24-hour service line can be called if a water emergency occurs at (808) 270-7633.
