The Maui Department of Water Supply will conduct emergency repairs today on a leaking 12-inch main line on South Kīhei Road, officials announced.

The repair job begins at 8:30 this morning, Tuesday, July 16, and is expected to conclude by 1 p.m.

Maui DWS administrator, Jacky Takakura, said customers will be without water during repairs on portions of Waipuʻilani and South Kīhei Roads, Nāmauʻu Place, and Hoʻonani and Waiapo Streets.

On the roadways, traffic on South Kīhei Road will be limited to one lane only from Waipuʻilani Road to Nāmauʻu Place. The intersection at Waipuʻilani Road with South Kīhei Road will also be limited to one lane only while crews work on the waterline, official said.

Motorists are advised to take alternate routes and follow signage and traffic control.  Water customers are also advised to store water for the morning if needed.

Customers may call the DWS service number at (808) 270-7633 to report other problems or leaks in the water system.
