A portion of Wakea Avenue in Kahului is closed as construction crews continue work on an asphalt rehabilitation project.

The closure extends along Wakea Avenue from Kamehameha to Lono for the rest of the work week.

Officials say the portion of roadway is expected to reopen to regular traffic on Friday at the earliest.

Motorists are asked to proceed with caution and follow posted detours and road signage.
