White Confirmed to National Transportation Steering Committee

Maui County Council Member Mike White was confirmed as a member of a National Transportation Steering Committee, officials announced.

The committee is part of the National Association of Counties and serves to advance legislative and policy priorities relating to transportation.

In a press release statement, White said he intends to advocate for measures that positively impact Maui County, and share the islands’ unique perspective.

One challenge, he said, is the reliance on air service and limited sea transportation for the delivery of basic goods.  Another area of interest is best practices on public transportation, and airport and harbor development.

“I am honored for this opportunity to participate on a national level and share our unique perspective,” White said.
