A portion of South Maui will be without water during a scheduled shutdown on Tuesday night, Oct. 22, while contractors re-route a 12-inch transmission line around a future catch basin on Auhana Road in Kīhei, water officials announced.

The work will take place over a nine hour period, beginning at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, and concluding by 4 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, officials said.

Customers on Auhana Road from South Kīhei Road to the Hālona Street intersection, Paulele Place, and side streets off Auhana Road (makai of Hālona Street) will be without water during the work period, according to the Maui Department of Water Supply.

The outage will also affect the Island Surf, Kanoe Resort, and Kanoe Palms facilities, officials said.

Traffic will be limited a single lane on Auhana Road between Kanoe Street and South Kīhei Road during the waterline work period.
