It will be used by the public, as well as the many basketball programs run by the Parks Department in the West Maui District, county officials said.

The court was donated as a gift to the County of Maui from Nancy Lieberman and the WorldVentures foundations.

The dedication ceremony is scheduled to take place at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, officials said.

“We are working hard to meet the needs of our community by improving and rehabilitating our County Parks facilities, and this generous donation will bring immediate relief to the lack of courts in West Maui,” said Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa in a press release statement.

“We are also appreciative to KemperLesnik organizers of the EA SPORTS Maui Invitational, who have been instrumental in connecting these foundations with the county to create such a positive impact for our residents,” said Mayor Arakawa.

The dedication is among the various activities planned as part of the upcoming 30th annual EA SPORTS Maui Invitational college basketball tournament, that is held at the Civic Center each year.
