Maui Roller Girls vs California Team in Final of Season

This Saturday, Nov. 9, the Maui Roller Girls play their last game of the 2013 season against the San Fernando Valley Roller Derby.

The action begins at 3 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club in Kahului with some “Fresh Meat.”

The meat  in question is actually brand-new skaters trained by the Maui Roller Girl’s Sweet Sheri Die. They will hit the track for their first-ever public scrimmage that afternoon, so anticipate 30 minutes of adrenaline-fueled, hopefully-not-too-much-actual-pounding-of-flesh derby debut excitement.

At 4 p.m. the real action starts with “Pandamonium”: Maui Roller Girls vs. San Fernando Valley Roller Derby.

Organizers state that “skaters have flown from California to play against Maui. SFV certainly don’t plan to leave without winning and Maui doesn’t plan to send them home victorious, so the competition will be fierce.”

“Pandamonium” promises to be a fun, family-friendly event and – on a related note – there are no drugs, alcohol or smoking allowed on the Boys and Girls Club property.

Attendees are invited to bring a low-backed chair or blanket to sit on. Snacks will be sold by the Boys and Girls Club and an after party is planned at Saigon Palace  (310 Hookahi Street, not to be confused with Saigon Cafe) in Wailuku.

Admission is free with a student or military ID or for those under 18.

Tickets for everyone else are $5.
