The Geminid Meteor Shower is expected to peak tonight.

The Bishop Museum Planetarium notes that the meteor shower is a rarity because it is caused by debris from an asteroid (3200 Phaethon), rather than a comet.

According to information posted on the Bishop Museum J. Watumull Planetarium website, the active period for the shower is between December 6th and 19th.

The Huna moon is expected to cause some interference for viewing, until it sets at 4:45 a.m. on Saturday, the site states.
