From 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. nightly through next Tuesday, Dec. 31, Makena Beach & Golf Resort’s former Hakone Restaurant is now “Rare” in both name and availability.

For the next six nights you can revisit the speciality sushi creations you may remember – or experience for the first time – as prepared by Chef Ivan and Chef Kamijo.

Try the colorful and award-winning Hurricane Ivan Roll ($23) featuring shrimp tempura, avocado and cucumber and surrounded by hamachi tempura, Thai chili sauce and sprinkled with tempura flake and flying fish roe.

The menu also offers sashimi combos, salads and a variety of nigiri options.

Eight sakes, a plum wine and soju are also available.
