5A Rent-A-Space Hosts E-Waste Recycling

An electronic E-cycling event is planned this Saturday, Jan. 18, from 7 a.m. to noon at  5A Rent-A-Space’s Parking lot, located at 3600 Lower Honoapiʻilani Road in West Maui.

The event is organized by 5A Rent-A-Space in partnership with the County of Maui Electronics Recycling program, and Habitat For Humanity.

Items that will be accepted include: TVs, keyboards, laptops, computers, computer monitors, PDA’s, MP3 players, CRT & LCD monitors, printers, scanners, DVD & VCR players, telephones, cell phones, fax machines, stereos, speakers, video and digital cameras, and microwaves.

This includes electrical items with circuit boards and everything attached to them, as well as audio, phone, and most office equipment.

Event organizers say electronic waste equipment collected during the event will be delivered to Habitat for Humanity’s Re-Store Warehouse in Wailuku for refurbishment or recycling.

Useable equipment will be donated to Habitat families, schools or nonprofits.  Items that are not useable or re-sellable will be shipped to the Mainland for recycling.

Items that will not be accepted include: appliances or hazardous waste.
