Downed Tree Knocks Out Power to 6,394 in East Maui

A power outage affecting an estimated 6,394 customers in parts of Maui from Makawao to Hāna was caused by a downed tree in electrical lines, according to Maui Electric Company.

The outage was reported at around 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29, and power was restored to all customers except one by 1:30 p.m., according to a company spokesperson.

The outage affected parts of Makawao, Haʻikū, Peʻahi, Kailua, Keʻanae, Wailua, Nāhiku, and Hāna.
