The Maui County Office on Aging accepting nominations for its 46th Annual Outstanding Older American award.

The deadline to submit a nomination is 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 2014, with awards to be presented on Tuesday, May 6, at an awards luncheon.

The program is held annually in conjunction with Older Americans Month to recognize elders across the nation for their extraordinary efforts and contributions to society, according to a department announcement.  This year, the national focus is on injury prevention with the theme, “Safe Today, Healthy Tomorrow.”

Last year’s awardees included Diane Logsdon of Kula and Richard Endsley of Lahaina.

Nominees must be 65 years of age or older, and be a resident of Maui County.

Previous winners are not eligible for nomination; and nominations can be made by any individual, club or organization.

Nomination forms are available by calling (808) 270-7755, obtaining a form online at www.mauicountyadrc.org, or by emailing [email protected].

Forms should be submitted to the J. Walter Cameron Center, Attn: OOA Committee, 95 Mahalani St., Room 20, Wailuku, HI 96793.  Completed forms may also be faxed to (808) 270-7935 or emailed to [email protected].
