No Tsunami Threat to Hawaii After 6.6 Kermadec Islands Quake

There is no tsunami threat to Hawaiʻi after a preliminary magnitude 6.6 earthquake reported at 9:50 a.m. HST on Thursday, July 3, 2014, in the Kermadec Islands Region, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
The USGS reports that the quake occurred at a depth of 20.5 miles and was located: 145 miles ESE of Raoul Island, New Zealand; 632 miles S of Nuku`alofa, Tonga; 670 miles NE of Whakatane, New Zealand; 675 miles NNE of Gisborne, New Zealand; and 684 miles ENE of Whangarei, New Zealand.
