The Council’s Budget and Finance Committee will conduct site inspections on Monday morning, July 21, of proposed land acquisitions in Kahului and Wailuku.

The proposals include the acquisition of seven lots at the Maui Business Park – Phase II in Kahului for $7.1 million, and the dedication gift of 35.5 acres in Pāʻia as part of the deal.

The other proposal calls for the acquisition of three units at the Kehalani Village Center in Wailuku for $6.5 million, and the dedication of 14.4 acres in Wailuku as part of that acquisition.

The parcels initially surfaced as potential options as the county faces the end of a lease at its service center site located at the Maui Mall in Kahului.

Earlier this year, Mayor Arakawa recommended that the committee consider both parcels, noting that the county would be able to build facilities at both sites, and relocate departments that are dealing with permits, leases, and contracts on non-county owned land.
