A 20-year-old man from Kīhei, Maui was arrested by the FBI at the Los Angeles International Airport on Monday for allegedly interfering with a flight crew, a crime that authorities say carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison.

A criminal complaint was filed against Kevin Lee Mosele in US District Court on Tuesday alleging that he “knowingly assaulted, intimidated, threatened, and harassed” three flight attendants of a British Airways flight from London to Los Angeles.

The FBI released information saying an affidavit in support of the complaint alleges that Mosele was “disruptive and abusive to passengers and members of the flight crew, and he had to be physically restrained during the flight.”

According to information released by the FBI Los Angeles Field Office, the complaint further alleges that Mosele “made a variety of threats while restrained” and that “his actions required the captain of the aircraft to personally respond” to assess the man’s actions throughout the flight.

Authorities say Mosele was charged with one count of interference with a flight crew and released after posting $10,000 bond.
