A 60-year-old man from Scottsdale, Arizona died after being pulled from the waters fronting the Sheraton Resort in West Maui on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014.

Maui police say Greg Ira Eveloff was swimming with family in Kāʻanapali at around 12 p.m. when he experienced difficulties, and became unresponsive as he was being brought to shore.

According to police reports, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation was conducted prior to the arrival of first responders.

Despite lifesaving efforts, police say Eveloff died at the scene.

The cause of death is pending autopsy results.

Among the units responding to the scene were crews from the police and fire departments, as well as medics.
