Maui Fire Department Announces 5 Promotions

The Maui Department of Fire and Public Safety today announced the promotion of five fighters including Firefighter III Chad Pacheco to the rank of Captain.  Also promoted were Modesto Jacinto and John Rosa to the rank of Firefighter III; and Shane Adolpho and Owen Deatrick to the rank of Firefighter II.

All promotions took effect on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014.

Department officials provided the following background information on the newly promoted individuals:

Chad Pacheco: is a 15 year veteran of the Maui Fire Department, and served nine years at the Lahaina Fire Station.   In addition to his service in Lahaina, Pacheco served time as a Firefighter II on HazMat-10 for six months, and worked at the Pūkoʻo Fire Station on Molokaʻi for about a year before transferring to the Kahului Fire Station where he has been stationed until his recent promotion.  Pacheco was promoted from Firefighter III to Fire Captain at the Kaunakakai Fire Station on Molokaʻi.

Modesto Jacinto: is a nine year veteran of the department, first joining the force in April 2005.  During his time at the deparment, Jacinto worked at the Makawao, Wailea, and Kahului Fire Stations.  As a Firefighter II, he worked at both the Hazmat and Rescue Companies in Kahului and is now assigned as a Firefighter III to the Training Bureau.

John Rosa: joined the department in July 2002, and is a 12 year veteran of the department.  Rosa served for four years at the Hoʻolehua Fire Station and eight years at the Kaunakakai Station on Molokaʻi.  In his new promotion to Firefighter III, Rosa will be assigned to the Hoʻolehua Fire Station.

Shane Adolpho: was hired in April 2005, and has worked at the Wailea, Hoʻolehua and Kahului Fire Stations.  Adolpho is the first firefighter from Molokaʻi to be promoted to a Firefighter II Hazmat Technician.  In his new role, he will be assigned to the Hazmat Company at the Kahului Fire Station.

Owen Deatrick: is a 12 year veteran of the Maui Fire Department, beginning his career with the opening of the Wailea Fire Station on Ladder 14.  He transitioned to Ladder 3 in Lahaina for 2-and-a-half years, and spent the last eight years with Engine 11 in Nāpili.  In his new promotion to Firefighter II, Deatrick will be assigned to the Hazmat Company at the Kahului Fire Station.
