Monsanto Fund Awards $12K in Grants to Science Education

The Monsanto Fund was established to encourage public school students in pursuing the sciences, and has awarded over $165,000 in grants since its conception in 2005.

The Monsanto Hawai‘i Science Education Fund recently awarded 13 of the state’s public schools and educational organizations with over $12,000 in grant money. The fund was established by Monsanto’s nonprofit branch to support the sciences in Hawai‘i’s educational system.

Recipients of the grant included: H.P. Baldwin High School, ‘Īao Intermediate School, Kīhei Charter School, Lahainaluna High School, Maui High School, Aiea High School, Highlands Intermediate School, Ilima Intermediate School, James Campbell High School, Kahuku High Intermediate, Kailua Intermediate School, Nanakuli High & Intermediate School and Waipahu High School.

The funds will bolster public school programs and STEM projects ranging from robotics, school gardens, hydroponic/aquaponic systems, green energy projects, as well as equipment for biology, chemistry, and biotechnology classes.

The Monsanto Fund was established to encourage public school students in pursuing the sciences, and has awarded over $165,000 in grants since its conception in 2005. The funding program supports O‘ahu, Maui, and Moloka‘i, where Monsanto employees live and work. Public schools with students in science-related courses from intermediate through college-level grades are eligible for the funds.
