Jake Shimabukuro Returns to The MACC Feb. 21

The Maui Arts & Cultural Center will be presenting ‘ukulele wizard Jake Shimabukuro at the Castle Theater on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 7:30 p.m.

The event will include pre-show festivities in the courtyard beginning at 5:30 p.m., with live music, hula, and displays of Maui arts and crafts, along with food, snacks and beverages for purchase.

Known for his lightning-fast finger riffs and impressive depth of mastery, Shimabukuro is a world-renowned ‘ukulele virtuoso with a repertoire that covers all musical genres–from mellow jazz and flamenco, to bluegrass, rock, classical and Hawaiian music. Declared a musical “hero” by Rolling Stone magazine, he has been praised with comparisons to Jimi Hendrix and Miles Davis, and has performed live for the Queen of England.

Tickets are expected to sell fast and fans are encouraged to purchase them now. Tickets are $12, $35, $45 and $55 (half-price for kids 12 and under), and can be purchased at The MACC Box Office, by calling 242-SHOW (242-7469) Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., or online. MACC annual donors are eligible for a discount.
