DCCA Fines Hawai‘i Pacific Solar

The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs and the State Boards and Commissions issued a $5,000 fine to Hawai‘i Pacific Solar LLC for employing an unlicensed contractor during a job contracted with the DOE.

Hawai‘i Pacific Solar was contracted to outfit some 50 schools on O‘ahu and Kaua‘i with PV systems and sell the energy generated by them to the DOE. On Jan. 30, 2013, the company signed an agreement regarding the contract with an entity with no Hawai‘i contractor’s license. A settlement agreement’s fine amount was approved by the state board.

The solar provider allegedly violated Hawai‘i state law by “aiding and abetting an unlicensed person to perform activities requiring a license,” according to a report issued by the DCCA outlining disciplinary actions taken through January 2015.
