Hui No‘eau Center Holding Frida & Diego-Themed Art Event
The Hui No‘eau Visual Arts Center is holding its annual Art Affair fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 28, from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Kaluanui Estate in Makawao. This year’s event is inspired by the lives and work of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera.
The event, “A Feast for the Senses,” encourages guests to dress up in styles that capture the time and spirit in which the artists worked and lived, and to draw on inspiration from their art.
The Art Affair will feature live and silent auctions offering a variety of works from locally and internationally recognized artists, a gourmet dinner prepared by Celebrations Catering Chef Bev Gannon, an open bar, and live music and dancing with Neto Peraza & The Hot Salsa Band.
Proceeds from the event will support the hui’s many visual arts education programs that benefit both Maui locals and visitors. Art Affair will also benefit the Hui’s Visiting Artist Program–a program inviting artists from across the globe to stay at the hui to share their talents and techniques with students, teachers, and the community through hands-on workshops and lectures.
Standard tickets are available for $175 ($95 tax-deductible), and standard tables of 10 cost $1750 ($950 tax-deductible). Premiuim Tables and tickets for the Art Affair 2015 have sold out.
