‘Startup Weekend Maui’ Offers Business Action for Entrepreneurs

Maui Economic Development Board is looking for entrepreneurs to participate in an event to inspire self-starters to manifest their ideas into reality within 54 hours.
“Startup Weekend Maui,” scheduled for May 15 to 17, will be held in Kīhei at two locations within the Maui Research & Technology Park: MEDB’s Malcolm Center, 1305 N. Holopono Street and at the Maui Research & Technology Center, 590 Līpoa Parkway.
Participants will learn how to get a start-up off the ground during this weekend intensive, while connecting with other entrepreneurs from various backgrounds. Entrepreneurs will pitch their ideas and get feedback from peers, form teams with overlapping interests, and create working business models for presentation to local entrepreneurial leaders who will offer useful feedback. Business ideas can be made a reality during the course of the weekend.
“Startup Weekend is an adrenalin rush from the first pitch through to the last presentation,” said Gerry Smith of Maui Economic Development Board. “Coming in to pitch an idea on Friday night and leaving on Sunday evening with a start-up company along with a bag full of new network contacts is an invaluable experience for any entrepreneur.”
Those who register before April 15 will get a 25% discount off the registration fee. Students are eligible for a 50% discount with valid identification.
