Maui Family Support Services Appoints New CEO
The Board of Directors of Maui Family Support Services Inc. has announced the appointment of Edeluisa Baguio-Larena as chief executive officer effective March 18, 2015.
Baguio-Larena has a master’s degree in international and intercultural management and a bachelor of science degree in social work. She has 24 years of education and work experience with nonprofit agencies in the Philippines and in the US, including 13 years with MFSS.
“Edel’s history with MFSS has shown her to be a steadfast, supportive and encouraging
leader in her various roles, including serving as the acting CEO since August 2014,” stated a MFSS press release. “Edel has a strong knowledge of MFSS programs and has cultivated strong relationships with the staff, community partners, funding agencies, and other stakeholders. She is committed in upholding the agency mission and in continuing to be a positive support for our staff and the board.”
Maui Family Support Services is a private, nonprofit agency incorporated in 1980 to provide early childhood development services to families on Maui. The agency has provided 34 years of continuous service to residents of Maui County.
MFSS’s mission is “to promote healthy family functioning by providing supportive services which build on family strengths” in conjunction with the prime directive “to utilize our collective resources toward the prevention of child abuse and neglect.”
The agency serves Maui, Lānaʻi and Molokaʻi.
