Scattered showers are expected for windward areas with partly cloudy skies becoming mostly cloudy later tonight. Isolated showers are expected in leeward spots. East winds are expected around 15 mph with low temperatures from 68° to 73°.
Showers carried by the trades are expected to favor windward and mauka areas. Trade wind speeds are forecasted to weaken slightly on Friday. An increase in showers is expected Friday and Saturday due to an area of enhanced tropical moisture spreading up from the southeast over the eastern end of the main Hawaiian Island chain. Drier and breezier conditions are forecast to return early next week as a surface high strengthens to the northeast of the islands.
