Crews are on the scene of a small plane crash at Hilo International Airport, according to witnesses on scene.
Those who observed the incident tell Maui Now that the plane appeared to be a single engine craft and was within a couple hundred feet of the ground when the incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, April 14, 2015.
“It appeared to be a climb out stall,” said Jack Dugan who witnessed the incident while taking off as a passenger aboard a commercial flight out of Hilo on Tuesday afternoon.
“The plane seemed to climb out too steep, stalled and fell to the left or driver’s side,” said Dugan.
Details about the incident have yet to be released by authorities. Our sister site, BigIslandNow.com reports that two men and a woman were injured and were taken to the hospital by paramedics when the single-engine private Cessna plane crashed.
Emergency were on scene at around 2:20 this afternoon responding to the incident.
