Woman Medevaced From Tour Boat Near Molokini Crater

A 60-year-old woman was medevaced from a tour boat at Molokini Crater in waters off of Maui on Tuesday, according to the US Coast Guard.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Maui received a report from a the captain aboard the Pride of Maui, a snorkeling tour boat, that the woman was experiencing shortness of breath and weakness prior to her plans to snuba.

Company representatives say she was escorted back to the boat by the SNUBA instructor where the Captain took over.

Crewmembers on the Pride of Maui stabilized the woman and administered oxygen, according to Coast Guard reports.

A 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boat crew from Coast Guard Station Maui was diverted from a training mission to the scene.

Once on scene, the woman was transferred onto the Response Boat and transported to Kīhei Boat Ramp where emergency medical responders were waiting to take her to the Maui Memorial Medical Center.
