Lahaina 4th of July Fireworks Fundraising Goal Set at $50,000

The LahainaTown Action Committee is inviting the community to take part in a fundraising effort to cover the costs of its annual aerial fireworks display on the 4th of July.
According to the LTAC, the cost of the fireworks alone are upwards of $40,000, but with additional expenses to host the event, the organization has set a $50,000 fundraising goal.
In an email communication, LahainaTown Action Committee President Sne Patel said the organization is also hoping to increase the length of the fireworks show from the ten minute display that was conducted in past years, to one that runs longer.
“We want this year’s event to be bigger and better than ever. It will take the community and businesses support to help make that happen,” said Patel in the announcement.
So far, the fundraising committee has raised $17,500 in pledges for the annual event, according to updated information released today.
“We urge local businesses to support by donating and also decorating their store fronts with flags and buntings,” said Lynn Donovan, Executive Director of the LahainaTown Action Committee in the email communication.
She also noted that the deadline for company logos on the official Lahaina poster has been set for June 8, 2015.
The LTAC has set up two banners along the Honoapiʻilani Highway–one at Lahainaluna Road and the other at Shaw Street–so that the public can track progress of the fundraising efforts.
Donation boxes are being set up at designated sites including: the Pioneer Inn, First Hawaiian Mortgage, Maui Grown Coffee store, Cool Cat Cafe, and Captain Jacks Island Grill.
Pledge forms can be downloaded and sent to the Lahaina Town Action Committee via FAX (808)661-4779 or mail to 648 Wharf Street, Lahaina, HI 96761. More information is available by calling (808) 661-4779.
